The Perfect Husband

That's Babu. He is ambulant due to an accident. He moves around on his mobile wheelchair. His wife is Asst Principal in the School District of Philadelphia. He too works at the reception.

You can see him in the picture, getting some tea ready for me. He shares all the responsibility in the home, tirelessly. In spite of being ambulant, he does almost all the work in the home. He does not let me, even iron my own shirt. No, he is not hen-pecked and certainly puts his foot down when there is a need to. He obviously doesnt fit into any of the false male roles that we see predominant among Christian communities. He clearly has not been brainwashed by cultural stereotypes. But he is the best example of what we see in Ephesians 5: 25, where it says, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

I have not seen as yet, such an example of love, sacrifice and authority. We see in Proverbs 31 the model of a perfect wife but if there is a model of a perfect husband, then Babu would top the list. Praise God for people who exemplify kingdom values, especially at home.

PS: His actual name is Shreekumar David. We call him Babu at home. And I have been his Pastor from the time I pastored the Church in Pondicherry, so what I m sharing is out of 18 years of observation. He now attends the Presbyterian Crossroads Community Church in Philadelphia.

You have said it so correctly dear Pastor: "Combination of Christ-like love, sacrifice and authority makes a perfect husband!" Thank you for sharing your thoughts..

A very happy "Father's day wishes" to Babu Annan! It's great to hear about him from you and to know that he is leading by example
