At the apex level, in most churches and NGOs, nobody lives by faith. Its a feudalism where others are asked to live by faith. Here, a mortal master-servant relationship is enforced. This creates a greed-vortex which attracts power-seekers with all their near-sighted prejudices. Privilege becomes arrogance, arrogance warps into injustice and nobody seems to notice that this magnificient and gigantic tree is completely termite-rotten on the inside. And a small storm could easily topple the secure edifice.
The cunning mechanisms to save institutional money at the cost of the hand-to-mouth worker, is only for subsidizing the luxury of those at the apex. They never realize that they are filling their pockets with blood.
Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. Everything they do is done for men to see ... Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are."
The quote, from Matthew 23: 1-5, 13-15, is only a sampling. There are actually 7 scary woes pronounced in this chapter. However, our modern day Pharisees, Saducees and the religious establishment have completely forgotten the vitriolic side to the "tender" Jesus.
Sigh, anyway, long live ignorance!
Ignorance gets many people into ministry, shame prevents them from getting out and politics prevents them from bearing fruit.
